If you enjoy teaching and are interested in making a difference in a child's education, you would love working at Socratic Learning! Our current tutors tend to be from one of the following two groups:
- recently retired teachers who want to continue to teach, but do so for a limited number of hours, and
- teachers who for personal reasons (typically to care for family) have left a eight to five teaching job, but still want to teach.
Socratic Learning prefers to work with certified teachers but would consider all college graduates. Socratic Learning will consider graduate students who are in the process of getting certified to work as teachers. Socratic Learning is also looking for highly qualified bi-lingual teachers and special education teachers.
Socratic Learning is not accepting applications from students without a four year college degree.
The selected tutors undergo training in the following areas:
Socratic pedagogy - intensive program to help teachers become adept at Socratic Dialogs, the use of Socratic Dialogs to evaluate what a student knows, does not know and more importantly what a student is ready to learn next.
- A rigorous diversity training course.
- Introduction to academic standards, and
- Effective online instruction.
The tutoring sessions are continuously monitored and evaluated by experienced educators. We offer highly competitive salaries and flexible hours. We strongly encourage all minorities to apply.
